ADHDemon Issue 3 out next week + FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!

Free Comic Book Day is one of those shining reminders that humans can, actually, do good things. On the first Saturday of each year, comic book shops the country (world??) over open their doors to offer people free comics.

It’s cool that there’s a tradition that I love that has been born during my lifetime. We usually have to make these things ourselves. Like, I didn’t know I was building a tradition of making homemade donuts on Easter Sunday… but if you do it once and it’s great, just do it every year and you have a tradition. Donuts, comics… new traditions can be really nice.

This year, I’ll be at Blue Moon Comics in San Rafael to celebrate Free Comic Book Day. May 2nd! I’ll be there 11am - 2pm. I’ll have all my ADHDemons, I’ll even try and bring some of the lesser known, harder to find books. The Grubakos and the Wulfos. And, of course, I’ll be packing all those lovely For The Love of Comics anthologies!

So come down, get free comics, get not free comics, and celebrate the best tradition born in my lifetime (right after donuts on Easter).

Speaking of ADHDemon…

(maybe my favorite panel from the 3rd issue…)

…Issue number 3 is hitting the shelves real soon. I’ll have printed copies in hand next week, and I’m real excited. It started as a devoted love-letter to my buddies who make the lovely GUTTER podcast. It still is that, but it’s also becoming a comic that is pulling more comic-ness out of me than I ever expected. The pages need more! The story needs more! Everything just keeps more-ing and getting better, and that makes me happy.

And if you don’t find yourself in the southlands of San Rafael, but DO find yourself in the Northlands of Santa Rosa on May 2nd… Please get yourself over to Santa Rosa ZineFest 2026!!

Santa Rosa ZineFest continues the tradition of making brilliant and wonderful traditions by having a great idea and then being consistent about it.
I love this gathering.
People who are deep in the DIY trenches making gorgeous art gathering to share said art, to celebrate said art and - my favorite part - to encourage and further the creation of art by any and all who might be so inclined. It’s great, it’s wonderful.
It will be running from noon to 5 on May 2nd, and so whilst the FTLOC Anthologies will be there (hosted by the incredible Kiibo), I won’t be there until around 3pm. But I shall be there! As shall wonderful comics.

It will be a big day, and I hope to see you for some part of it.
